MARGARET ACKERLEY, senior vice president and general counsel, helps determine and deliver WWF’s strategy and conservation results. She leads WWF-US’s legal function, advising on complex partnerships, new entities, contracts and agreements, technology, governance, litigation, tax, regulatory compliance, fundraising, intellectual property, and other areas. She also has responsibility for WWF global offices managed by WWF-US. Prior to joining WWF, Margaret practiced law at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now WilmerHale) in Washington, DC. While in private practice, she provided counsel to numerous Fortune 500 clients in litigation and regulatory matters. A member of the firm’s hiring committee, Margaret was also recognized with the firm’s first pro bono publico services award for her work on behalf of under-served communities and non-profit clients. Earlier in her career, Margaret was a public finance analyst for the First Boston Corporation (Credit Suisse) in the areas of healthcare and higher education. She graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College and received her law degree from Yale.
