David Flickinger has over 20 years of experience in conservation and representing tax-exempt organizations, and has contributed to PFPs in Brazil, Bhutan, Peru, Colombia, Namibia, and Belize. As Managing Counsel, David serves as an expert on the structural and legal aspects of Project Finance for Permanence transactions and related means of raising funds for conservation.

Before joining the Earth for Life program, David served as WWF’s Deputy General Counsel for 19 years. During that time, he advised WWF on work to conserve species and places throughout the world, and on tax-exempt organizations, intellectual property, transactions and litigation, and charitable giving.

He has a law degree from Stanford Law School and bachelor’s degrees from Northwestern University. Prior to WWF, David clerked for Chief Judge Gilbert Merritt of the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced securities litigation at Wilmer, Cutler, and Pickering in Washington, D.C.
