Adaptive Management and Learning for the Commodities IAP

Chela Umir presents her work to the community

The Global Impacts Platform is a component of the Adaptive Management & Learning (A&L) Project, under the GEF-6 Commodities Integrated Approach Pilot (IAP) Program. The sub-project will support the overall A&L project objective which is to “effectively leverage demand, transactions and support to production to ensure successful implementation of the Commodities IAP program.” The Global Impacts Platform will consolidate evidence, fill gaps in the evidence base and help foster decision-making by synthesizing and communicating available evidence about sustainable production and sourcing initiatives.

The A&L project will be instrumental in ensuring that the IAP is viewed as a cohesive whole and that it has a clear identity. This will entail a number of different vital elements including development of an IAP brand identity; Program-level monitoring and evaluation; knowledge management; and implementation of a partnership strategy with global-level cross cutting partners. As part of the KM activities, a Global Community of Practice will be established to convene practitioners from the IAP target countries to share best practices and promote learning. The A&L project will also contribute to developing a robust and policy-relevant evidence base on the effectiveness of different voluntary sustainability standards being used to implement deforestation-free and sustainable production and sourcing initiatives. This will include support to filling key gaps in the evidence base, making existing evidence more accessible to key user groups and synthesizing and communicating evidence in decision-relevant terms.
